About Deborah Sperry
Deborah Sperry has been involved in art throughout her career. Living in New York City, her figurative paintings were widely exhibited. She was in leadership of The Women’s Caucus for Art located at The Moore College of Art and Design. Upon moving to New Jersey, Sperry embarked on a path of design for live special events and theatre. She earned the “Lighting Certified,LC” credential from The National Council of Qualifications in the Light Professions and continued to work for corporate and private clients.
During a period of family caregiving, Sperry returned to school and earned a BFA in Sculpture, the closest thing she felt to working in 3D space. In 2015, her work “One Year Walking” received the International Sculpture Center award for Outstanding Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture. Ms. Sperry has exhibited her work nationally and most recently in the New Jersey Arts Annual, the Grounds for Sculpture, and the MANA Contemporary - International Sculpture Center Exhibition.
Ms. Sperry has been named the 2025 Artist in Residence, for Gloucester City, New Jersey. Her focus will be on capturing the life of the city and the Delaware waterfront in paintings, prints and sculptures.
